“I was not born a monk”
I’ve found that I said that so many times to so many people. Actually I had a pretty rough and challenging life, filled with self-sabotage and anger towards the world around me… that was until my Awakening experience in 1993. This experience was the beginning of my new life which eventually lead me to becoming a meditation teacher and monk. It gave me a reason to live, a clear path towards my healing, a passion to express and contribute and a way to really express to the world what is authentic for me. Although my goals were mostly subconscious pre-awakening I still had goals. Unfortunately they weren’t positive. I often was filled with anger and frustration. I was always a bit of a rebel, I knew there was something better than the existence I was living, that there was more to life, that there is real meaning and a greater way to live. But as a child that mindset didn’t fit in school. As a teenager growing up in Israel I experienced tragedy, my brother died while serving in the army when I was 16 years old, there was a lot that I was angry about, I became more and more frustrated, alone and lost. My life really was spiralling, until I woke up. I believe that it is possible for everyone, that in fact it is the birthright of each and every one of us, to walk an authentic path of transformation, be supported, empowered and/to create a fulfilling profound life.
So let me share with you a bit about my story, how I got here (with my huge long beard)… while still maintaining my rebellious side (though in a different way). Oh and let’s not forget still having lots of fun on my two divine motorbikes. :)
An Awakening and years as an apprentice
Yes, it all started with me being stubborn about buying a unique pair of shoes, during my travels after serving for 3 years in the army. I found myself on a gorgeous island in Thailand dancing and partying. A special pair of shoes caught my eye while going past a Tai Chi school, well to cut a long story short the Master of the place would only sell the shoes if I took a Tai Chi (meditation in movement) course. Through doing the course I got the shoes and a tiny bit of spiritual wisdom. Doing the course gave me a glimpse of what was to come, it took me inward and I found peace, I started to become aware of energy, I stopped to listen deeply, my heart began to open and I found a way to love and accept. I realized there is another way to live life, a joy filled profound life. The impact on me was so strong that I decided to continue with one of the teachers and became his apprentice for the next 4 years of intense daily practice till he certified me to start teaching on my own.
I spent the next 5 years creating a successful career in Israel as a Tai Chi teacher expanding my knowledge of both meditation and Hebrew mystical work. My life as a Tai Chi teacher and meditation teacher was busy, with many students and countless positive transformation stories. I was successful, however not deeply fulfilled, in fact I knew I had much still to be healed within me. Additionally, I knew that I had the potential to become a much better meditation teacher and longed to have the skill and state to serve people in their healing and empowerment on a deeper level. Then was what led me to meeting H.H Sai Maa.

My path as a monk in India and the USA.
I was ready for the next step when I met H.H Sai Maa who opened the path for a life of dedication, contribution and fulfilment.
I left my career in Israel behind and went to the ashram in India, which led to me taking my vows as a Brahmachari, a monk, in the year of 2002. My heart knew that this is my path and that it was time to be brave, to grab all the fear within me and jump off the cliff into the unknown and so I did.
I share this with you to encourage you all to follow your dreams, when the heart calls us, there is a knowingness within, it is to be followed. This led to years of spiritual practice we call sadhana, in ashrams in India, the practice of meditation, breath work (Pranayama), time with an old sincere Master of the Tantric path (working with the Divine Goddess), studying the path of Kriya (advanced breath, light meditation work) and more. My thirst was filled, I could totally dedicate my time to practice, at times beyond my comfort level yet utterly fulfilling.

Opening an Ashram in Crestone CO USA
After a couple of years of intense practice myself and a core group under the guidance of H.H Sai Maa opened the first ashram in Crestone USA. This place had grown to become a home for spiritual practice and study, a place for healing and love, a time for deep transformation and the creation of a community, a togetherness that words are incapable of accurately expressing.
I had the opportunity to mentor, teach and grow as a meditation teacher. It is where I was initiated by H.H Sai Maa and the great Yogi Master Satuwa Baba Maharaj as an “Acharya” which means one who is a teacher to teachers and can initiate others. That opened a special channel in my heart, to serve others in their transformation of becoming soul leaders and teachers for conscious evolution and spiritual practices.
I am filled with gratitude for the 9 years of living in an ashram and growing to be one of its leaders as it has given me so much wisdom that allowed me to take the ancient wisdom of the east and bring it together with the western modern methodology of transformation to create a system, a practical efficient path for our modern lives. This served me as a meditation teacher and in the creation of Shiviti and its programs, as well as for the years to come where I lived as a monk in the city of Denver and Tel Aviv Israel having a regular life as a meditation teacher and an entrepreneur.
The years in Varanasi
The next 3 years I lived in the old city of Varanasi under the care of the great Master Yogi Satuwa Baba Maharaj, where I learned and lived in the ancient ways of the Vedic tradition. Among the many gifts I have received, I also had the opportunity to open my heart and know what compassion is. Not through the study of books, or even the practice of meditation rather through the opportunity to serve many of the poor children of the city. It is not correct to say that I have served them, as they have served me in opening my heart to be touched so deeply in ways I had not known prior to that, I am eternally grateful.

A monk and a teacher in Denver and Tel Aviv
After many years of living a monastic life in Ashrams, I decided to start a new chapter in my life. Under the guidance of my beloved spiritual Master H.H Sai Maa I opened my own school, creating a path to wisdom and served many students around the world. At its core Shiviti Center provides a system of programs to serve the people in our modern western world as a path for transformation and the empowerment to create a fulfilling profound life.
With deep gratitude,
A loving invitation to walk the path together,
At your service,
